The Department of Ophthalmology at the Klinikum am Gesundbrunnen in Heilbronn offers modern diagnostic and surgical ophthalmological procedures. Its medical focuses include sutureless vitreous surgery (23G vitrectomy), the treatment of retinal detachments, as well as glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Retinal detachments are treated around the clock. In glaucoma surgery, minimally invasive procedures using Preserflo MicroShunts or XEN implants are used to lower intraocular pressure. In cataract surgery, aspheric premium lenses from the German manufacturer Carl ZEISS GmbH are preferably implanted. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Lutz Hesse.
